Its very unlikely.
As fuel is pumped out of the tank, air needs to fill the remaining space. If the filler neck is leaking, air will easily enter the tank. Sometimes people have problems if the tank vent system is blocked, creating a vacuum in the tank, but you won't have that problem.
Jerking at high speeds sounds like a faster acting issue than fuel delivery from the tank. You could have blocked injectors, or bad spark plugs.
If you stomp on the gas at low speed, kicking the engine into high RPM, but still at low speed, does the engine jerk? If so, it could be an engine sensor problem as well.
The engine does not jerk when kicked down at any speed, but it does seem lacking in acceleration. I just had the crankshaft position senser (ref) replaced and 3 out of the 4 catalytic converters replaced due to clogging. I just bought this truck and I am having the fuel neck replaced as a recall item when the tank gets close to empty. Starting and idling are very smooth, and the jerking happens when the engine is warmed up and generally above 60 kmh ( 40 mph).
There is a current RECALL by Nissan for replacement of the fuel filler tube on the Pathfinders. I have a 1997 Model..but Nissan claims it was BUILT on November of 2006 as a 1997 model..they will not cover it !! Yours should be covered under this campaign. The recall started about Oct. 1, 2007. DEALERS WILL REPLACE THE FUEL FILLER TUBE ASSEMBLY WITH A NEW ONE WITH AN IMPROVED COATING PROCESS. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR ABOUT NOVEMBER 26, 2007. OWNERS MAY CONTACT NISSAN AT 1-800-647-7261.
on the gearbox
did you forget to replace the cap on the filler tube ? or you may have a leaking line
4 bolts at the filler and the other you have to put your head under the car and look
it's under the oil filler cap
Try replacing oil filler cap.
possible coolant leaking internal, check oil filler cap for whitish slush, if it a gm vehicle you probably have intake gasket leak. cheers!!!
The fuel filter plug, on your 1993 Nissan, is located on the bottom of the fuel filter. The oil filter does not have a plug.
Where is the gas leaking from? If it's by the fill up point, may be the filler neck. If it's coming from further under the vehicle, and it only leaks when you fill the tank to a certain point, the tank may have a crack. Then again there are all the fuel lines... Take it to someone who knows vw.
Right side of the vehicle, behind the cab.
should be a filler tube comin out of the trans
Jack up the car and put stands under it then look and see where it is leaking.
