No, knocking in an engine is normally more serious than a gasket leak. Depending on how heavy the knock sound is it could be the Big Ends bearings need changing or it if its fainter than that it could be the timing is out. Either way it can cause real damage to the engine and should be repaired as quickly as possible.
Have seen exhaust manifold gasket leaks that are described as a 'knock' by inexperienced persons. Normally a knock is piston connecting rod bearings that have gone out.
Could be a problem with the thermostat housing or it's gasket, could be a problem with intake manifold gaskets, could be a problem with heater hoses or the fittings that screw into the manifold.
it could be a head leaking or the intake manifold, if its coming from the very top its most likely the intake manifold gasket
It could just be condensation which forms in the exhaust system outside of the engine, or you could be leaking coolant into your engine (typically via the head or intake manifold gasket).
a bad head gasket or intake manifold gasket.
Intake manifold gasket
Yes. If an intake manifold gasket was not installed properly or has somehow become damaged the engine will pull air through the opening.
THE CAUSE COULD BE A STUCK THERMOSTAT , OR A BLOWN HEAD GASKET, OR A LEAK IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD OR INTAKE MANIFLOD GASKET. A CRACK IN THE INTAKE MANIFOLD IS VERY COMMON.. NORTY
A handful of things could cause this. But I'd say one of two; Blown Headgasket or a bad intake manifold gasket. Which the engine's of these cars are known for.
If the intake manifold gasket has failed then it can cause many issues. Air leaks, known as vacuum leaks, will cause an erratic idle, stalling, and fuel problems.
Most likely you are burning antifreeze. This could be cause by a leaking head gasket or an intake manifold gasket. This condition needs to be corrected quickly, as it could lead to catastrophic engine failure.
Intake manifold leaks will cause the engine to idle rough and get poor fuel economy. An exhaust manifold will have no symptoms other than the sound of the leak.
It could cause the misfire, but so could a lot of other problems. The repair time is about one hour.
