The sensor has failed or there is damaged wiring, which is not as rare as you might think.
Two cams in a 1.8 ?
behind the crank shaft pully and the timing cover and then another pully is there two bolt hold it on
You will have to test the resistance on it to make sure it is within specs.
The Mirage 1.8 engines does not have distributor has two coils for the four spaks contolled for the ECU and the Crank Position Sensor.
The crankshaft position sensor is located on the front of the engine inside the timing belt cover
Where is the crank position sensor 0n a 2001 mitsubishi Galant
unfortunetly no this will not work flywheel is not the same and dif. crank pattern as well it will bolt up but no of the mods will bolt up
on a 2.0non turbo above the oil filter slightly to the left it has one ten mil bolt hold it in it is a three wire plug
I would say a badcam or crank sensor. if not scan system for codes
