There was not enough respect for those who already lived here. Nor for the amount of land that was available. The expectation was for the Native nations to assimilate and accept the European lifestyles without a willingness to try learning from them instead. This may sound a bit one-sided, and yes there was rebellion and attacks on settlements without provocation, but the numbers of settlers and the miscommunications through treaties created conflict.
