I absolutely love getting my nails done. When I was two weeks pregnant, I got my nails done from the salon and in the evening, my tongue started tasting metallic, even if I wasn’t eating anything. I suddenly wondered if it was because of the manicure and I panicked!

I went through various mama blogs on the internet to make sure if it was safe to get a manicure and pedicure done during pregnancy. Thankfully, I read this article from Parenthoodbliss that it was safe to do so and I also contacted my doctor.

This is actually called dysgeusia, and is caused by pregnancy hormones. Sometimes it can cause a sour or metallic taste in your mouth, even if you’re not eating anything. If you’re going through the same, it is recommended to,

Eat whatever you can, even if that means leaving your favourite for a period of time (I had to say goodbye to coffee)

You can also try citrus juices like lemonade, or foods marinated in vinegar to take the metallic taste off.

Try brushing your tongue along with your teeth.

Consult with your doctor about your prenatal medicines.
