Animal shelters are a great place to start looking for a new pet! Shelters such as those linked to the RSPCA and Dogs Trust are continuously looking for charitable individuals willing to take on a new pet. Thousands of pets are abandoned or seized from unfit owners each year, and you could help to relieve the strain. Alternatively, websites such as Gum Tree can provide you with local advertisements.

I live in the country, and there are many homeless, stray dogs running around in the fields. Where online can I search to find my nearest animal shelter?
Well, if they are taken to an animal shelter in time, the staff test the dog to see if it is aggressive. Most of them are and therefore euthanized, unfortunately. The ones that show no aggression are put up for adoption.
