Yes, on Nov 12, 1947, the Spruce (actually birch) Goose lifted off the water at 135 mph and flew for about a mile. This was during a Senate hearing on waste in war contracts and Howard Hughes was testifying. He flew back to California and actually flew to said it could fly. I is now in Evergreen, Oregon in an aviation museum.
The spruce goose did fly shortly after its creation, but in its current condition is not flyable. The spruce goose is now just a museum relic and will never fly again.
Howard Hughes
Except for Spruce Goose, mocking nickname by the American press for the H-4 Hercules flying boat, created and flown by millionaire Howard Hughes, played by Leonardo DiCaprio in "The Aviator, although the airplane was really made of birch instead of spruce. Beautiful airplane, the Spruce Goose.......but that's another story.
The Spruce Goose was only flown once because Howard Hughes was denied a permit to test fly it again by a government bent on destroying his reputation.
The first airplane wasn't flown in 1920, it ws flown in 1903. By 1920, dozens of different aircraft were being flown.
I was just there today and it and the Texas flag were both being flown at half staff
Priceless... that's history... why would you want to sell it?! Keep it for your kids and their kids... and their kids after that! --------------------------------------- I partially agree with that... i think it all depends on the demand for it, how patriotic the buyer is, and how much sentimental value is placed on it by the owner... I mean a Canadian or even an American could care less about a flag that was flown and not spend a dime, while a CEO of a Japanese company could find it worth 10,000$... idk im bored lets go to KFC Wanna whoppa wit dat?

I think it could be the Spruce Goose that was built by Howard Hughes. It is big lumbering and has been flown only once. If you ever want to see it I think it is still located in Long Beach, CA.
6 times its average hourly speed.
Ghostrider was not a person, but the nickname of the plane flown by Maverick and Goose.
Yes. Even in quite modern times, jet fighters were made from plywood!! To have a good strength-to-weight ratio. And of course there was the giant 'Spruce Goose'. (Actually it was made of birch I'm informed, but who's counting). It was built of wood because of a wartime shortage of aluminum. This was built by the Howard Hughes company, and may have only flown the once. It still exists as a museum exhibit.
it was actually 1905
The red color on the Metis flag represents the mixing of European and Indigenous cultures, as well as the blood shed by the Metis people in defending their rights and land.
No, they do not.
it could be shown by the British high Commission
the space shuttle for one
Someone important has died. I t also shows respect for that person. it is usually flown to symbolize a tragedy, it could be a person as stated above or it could be an event such as pearl harbor or 9/11
