What did the US Civil War do?
The US Civil War was America's worst failure as a nation. What it did, beyond all the political, social and economic changes that were the result of it are clear. Never could the US proceed in its history to not give up on internal negotiations again. Nothing could ever place sectionalism in a situation where Americans would be in armed conflict with each other. It was the best example of what a loss in communications can do to the fabric of the nation.
