Their throats are too delicate for a choker chain and the collars will just come right off. Use a harness and leash. And it will take a while for it to get used to it. If you cat is a more nervous cat, you should put only the harness on for short periods of time each day, making them longer gradually, until the cat is used to it. Then attach the leash and repeat. Then you can take the cat out. Some cats take right to it, however, and need no training.
