The European Union
NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation, was formed by the Allied Powers after WW2.
The European Union officially came into existence in 1993. At that time it had 15 countries as members.
It didn't. At the end of WW2 a block of communists countries was formed in Eastern Europe. These were controlled by Moscow. The countries that were blocked were western and NATO countries.
At first, Europe was full of alliances. the league of nations formed in ww1, and it kept on till ww2, but then another alliance formed. after the war that alliance became the UN, the most powerful alliance in history.
Europe consists of about 50 different countries, so they are not joined together. There is an organisation called the European Union, which has 27 members now, but they are all individual and independent countries. In 1957 it was formed by 6 countries: France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands and Luxembourg and was known as the European Economic Community, or EEC.
