The exact "cost" in memory, or allocation of time depends on the operating system, but a thread is frequently 10% or less than the "cost" of a process.

Because each time allocatin a new process means to launch a new set of each resources needed for its execution while Thread share some props in common that doesn't need to be reallocated and those behave like shared buffers or resources.
