Best Answer

Yes, they work just the same as any other tampon. Playtex are a lengthways expanding tampon so don't give the best defence against leaks and can increase cramps by expanding into the cervix - there is also some evidence that they pose higher risk of TSS. All commercial tampons increase risks like TSS, but Playtex may pose higher risk because they may lose more fibres and they are known to deposit fibres in the cervical opening. When using tampons, over safer options like menstrual cups or softcups, it's best to use organic cotton tampons such as Cottons, Natracare, or Emerita.

Do sport tampons work for swimmers?

Yes, sports tampons work as well as any other tampons for swimming - tampons are essentially all the same: absorbent wads of cotton or rayon, the design offers very little additional protection. A swimmer would be better off considering menstrual cups as unlike tampons cups can be worn even when flow is light or before menstruation to be prepared, cups also don't leak or increase cramps as tampons can. You can use any internal menstrual product to swim on your period.

What are there besides tampons?

Besides tampons there are also pads and cups. There are various different types of tampons, pads, and cups which are all a little different. Tampons for example can be vastly different, you may not be comfortable with conventional tampons but soft tampons or menstrual sponges are very different so may work better for you. There are also different types of cups, menstrual cups are a bell-shaped cup which have advantages such as the fact they don't leak like other options, but there are also diaphragms and softcups which are dome shaped and sit higher in the vagina so allow mess-free sex on your period.

How do you control period when going swimming without birth control or getting pregnant?

Tampons usually work, though if you are under the age acceptable for using tampons you can use a pad and a one-piece bathing suit. It works, I've tried it.

What is the best place too hide a tampon from your mom?

There's absolutely no reason to hide tampons from your mom, just let her see the tampons.Tampons are not something to be ashamed of so not something to hide from anyone. If she said you couldn't use tampons then simply don't use tampons, hiding the fact you're using tampons from her won't work as she'll realise you're using fewer pads and see used tampons in the bin. Also your mom needs to know you're using tampons as if you contract TSS she needs to know early to get you help.

Menstrual cups are also more convenient than tampons or pads as they can be worn for up to 12 hours with any flow and at any time without needing to alternate with pads as you would with tampons, menstrual cups also don't leak like tampons or pads. Look into all your options to see what you think will work for you.
