Daughter got poked in the eye earlier today and her eye is still tearing a lot and she is sometimes complaining of pain it is also a little swollen. Is this serious enough to take her to the doctor?

Your daughter will be fine. I promise. By the time I am answering this you may have already found out that she's going to be fine. But still, for any future reference, she will be fine. Getting poked in the eye can be EXTREMELY painful, Not only does the face have many many nerve endings, but the eyes are extremely sensitive. While it may hurt like hell right now, it will pass like any other pain. It just may take a bit more time. The human eye may look squishy… well it is squishy… but it can take more than a poke. But lets not test that. She will be okay. Aside from pain and redness, Possible swelling (depending on how hard the hit was). Within the next 12 hours she should be perfectly okay. If she does show signs of swelling its also okay. It may take more time but the hurt will stop.
