To prove that two lines cut by a transveral are parallel on must show that?

You can show that two lines cut by a transversal are parallel in a number of ways. (1) Show that the consecutive interior angles are supplementary. Let's say your lines are arranged like this (ignore the periods, they're just there so the spacing is right): ......................1 | 2 --------------------|----------------------- .......................8| 3 .........................| ......................7 | 4 --------------------|----------------------- ......................6 | 5 If the lines are parallel, the measures of all the consecutive interior angles should be supplementary. The following should be true: Angle 8 + Angle 3 = 180 degrees Angle 3 + Angle 4 = 180 degrees Angle 4 + Angle 7 = 180 degrees and Angle 7 + Angle 8 = 180 degrees (2) You can also prove that the lines are parallel by showing that the corresponding angles are congruent. Using the line arrangement above, prove any of the following to be true: Angle 1 = Angle 7 Angle 2 = Angle 4 Angle 3 = Angle 5 or Angle 8 = Angle 6 (3) Finally, you can use alternate angles (either interior or exterior). To use alternate interior angles, prove that: Angle 3 = Angle 7 or Angle 4 = Angle 8 To use alternate exterior angles, prove that: Angle 1 = Angle 5 or Angle 2 = Angle 6 Well, there you have it! Best of luck!

What the critical angle and is and what happens to light and the ceitical angle?

It spells "critical" correctly

When do you have critical angle?

A critical angle refers to the highest angle the light can possibly refract into or between objects without disappearing. ie = light going from crystal into water, the critical angle is 47degrees.

Could you Explain the critical angle?

hi the critical angle is when the light comes in and it reflects

Is critical angle fixed?

Yes for a given medium critical angle is fixed as mu = 1/ sin C mu is the refractive index of the material and C is the critical angle.

Is the critical angle the same thing as the angle of incidence?

The critical angle is not the same thing as the angle of incidence. There is a reason the confusion. The critical angle is defined as the smallest angle of incidence which results in total internal reflection. Every plane wave incident on a flat surface has an angle of incidence. That can be any angle. When a wave travels from a dense medium to a less dense medium, there comes an angle of incidence where there is no transmission into the less dense medium. We say then that for an angle of incidence above the "critical angle" the result is total internal reflection. It is also true that with Snell's law, the critical angle is the particular angle of incidence which would result in a 90 degree angle of refraction.
