Now Nair weddings are celebrated with much more rituals and pomp. However, the essence remains simple. Main components are 'Thalikettu' (tying the knot), the handing over the 'Mantra kodi' (usually a Sari in decorated tray) by the bride groom to the bride and finally the 'Kai pidichu Kodukkal'. (brides father handing over the bride to the bridegroom by holding their hands together.)
