Energy is in the plants and the herbivores eat the plants, then gaining the energy from the plants. Then carnivore eats herbivore then gaining energy from herbivore. Therefor energy is in the food web! (I think I'm right but if u get this wrong, sorry, just blame it on Gabby: me)
The light from the sun allows the plants to grow (photosynthesis). In the plant is now energy an animal is now going to eat it, lets just say the animal is an aphid. The aphid then has some of the energy stored in it. For the process to go on along the food chain the spider then eats the aphid, the spider then has some of the energy stored in it. Then the thrush eats the spider and it then too has some of the energy stored in it. And so on, and so forth.
I Hope This Helps as we were learning about this not long ago (year 8)
Bye xxx
the web is showing that different animals eat different animals and how one can't live without the other ones
Energy flows up a food chain, from the primary producers to the primary consumers, to the secondary consumers, up to the tertiary and then quaternary consumers. Energy flows when one organism eats another.

producer to consumer.
This flow of energy is transported through the animals by a system biologists call the food chain .
The energy is reduced in such a way that only 10% is passed to each level.
The typical movement of energy through an ecosystem is upward. This means that food flows through the different animals that eat each other.
the energy amount increases as other organisms eat other organizms.
As energy flows through the food chain, 90% of the energy is lost at each trophic level and 10% is passed on.

Food Chains and Food Webs
They show mainly the same info: how energy flows through predation. Food chains show a specific path in which energy flows, food webs show many different variations of paths, with many different species involved, while food pyramids show the same thing as a food chain, but in a pyramid box.
