How would you describe yourself in 3-4 lines
Usually an initial question, an ice-breaker .Interviewer typically asked this question for different reasons. One, he did not get a chance to review the candidate's CV beforehand and this will give him time to peruse through his CV while he is talking about himself. Another reason is because he want to hear the interviewee talk to ascertain how good of a communicator he is. A concise 2-minute answer to this question that hits all the main points of the candidate will impress upon him that the person can think analytically and is a good communicator. Generally speaking, this question maybe asked more from those candidates seeking non-technical jobs, or those seeking higher positions.
This is one of the types of question that you may get at an interview; they are intended to get you to talk about yourself. The questions are usually about some aspect of your own life so it is nor possible to answer them for you. You should think carefully, before attending, about such questions as this so as to be prepared when asked. There are several such questions and there is a great deal of information on the internet about techniques to employ when attending interviews.
Since you have logged this under 'Job Interviews' I assume you need to know how to answer that question in a job application form. It's a difficult thing to do; you need to 'sell yourself', but resist the temptation to lie, and do not mention anything for which you could not provide evidence if asked. Make a note of what you consider to be your best qualities (only those that would be relevant to the job in question), and ask one or two trusted friends for their opinion as well. Then choose maybe three or four things from the list and put them into a succinct sentence - not a long rambling one. (If you are very self-confident you might also mention something about yourself that is not 100% positive, to suggest that you have nothing to hide.)
"I am self-motivated and hard-working, and while I enjoy being part of a team I am also happy to work on my own."
Employers want to know how you perceive yourself. Since you have only five words to get your point across, list your greatest strengths, skills, and areas of expertise.
