I have a 1955 Ford Truck that had the first 239 overhead valve engine (8 cyl) (the older 239 was a flat head). I do know that after alot of research the trucks for 55 came with either a 6 cyl (226) or 8 cyl (239). According to information from Ford. The late model 55 may have had some 272 engines, due to 56 truck soon to be coming out. (septmeber thru december)
I had a '55 "effie" several years back. It had a 272 "Y" block in it, and I was always told that a 292 was an option also.
If it is a non turbo car 272in 272 ex cams will hurt performance! These are high rpm cams designed for forced induction engines not normally aspirated engines. To answer your question no larger injectors are not needed. if that is only mod.
I don't know for SURE but I will guess looking at my 55' Four door bel air, which is a 327 with 11 mpg, id say probably 12, 13 mpg?
if you are looking for the fireing order it is 15426378 i believe but you can also look behind the carburetor on the manifold. justtake off the air filter and it is right there just behind the carburetor... and i believe that the order is 15426378... that's all ford V8 engines, except the 351, 400... which is 13726548. and the 272, 292, 312, and the 368 are 15486372... and all ford v8 engines are numbered 12345678. looking at the engine block from the front of the truck. 1,2,3,4 being on your left bank... and 5,6,7,8 being on your right bank.
No. The 272 & 292 V8 installed in the 1957 Ranchero were not supercharged.

It is: 272*100 = 27,200%
It is 272/999
