If one wants to state that a bigger war is worse than a small war, then yes.
He could see that Vietnam was getting worse and the Cold War with Russia was hotter. Not to mention the problems in Cuba with Russian involvement there.
They were booed at disliked. They were called "Baby killers" and much worse. They were like that because of the media being able to record and show American citizens the horrors of the Vietnam war.
Vietnam is part of the communist world.
According to US Generals, the US was clearly winning in Vietnam, until Tet arrived; then things got a little chaotic, the war got worse...and worse.
Media coverage of wars changed from Vietnam for better.
The level of conflicts are as follows:1. Problem to solve2. Disagreement3. Contests4. Crusade5. World WarThis is how level of conflicts proceed. At any point of time conflict can be removed by mutual understanding. The worse thing that can happen is World war.
Worse. It was a fiasco that did nothing but tear up lives.
If by worse you mean formal US involvement in Vietnam, and largely unfettered control of military actions in Vietnam by President Lyndon Johnson, then yes. The Tonkin Gulf Resolution, Public Law 88-408, passed 7 August 1964, was in response to the two attacks against US Navy vessels (the USS Maddox on August 2 and the USS Maddox and USS Turner Joy on August 4) in the Tonkin Gulf. The Tonkin Gulf issue simply initiated open war between North Vietnam and the US. Prior to the Gulf incident there was no war between Hanoi and Washington, only a guerrilla war against the Viet Cong in RVN (Republic of South Vietnam)...not a war against North Vietnam itself.
U.S involvement in the Vietnam War was called a quagmire because the Vietnam War became worse for the U.S as they went further into the war. The U.S and its ally South Vietnam were unable to defeat North Vietnam and its Vietcong allies. The U.S was unable to effectively remove troops from Vietnam without feeling like they lost the fight against containment of Communism. Public opinion shifted from support of the war to antiwar sentiment.
A major event was the conflict between the North and South about how African Americans should be treated. The South thought they should be slaves while the North thought opposite. Fights began to go through and it got worse and worse until a war began.
US fighters are better now...they all have guns on them! If it hadn't been for the Vietnam War, they'd all just have missiles.
