However, there have been times when it needed to be repaired or when he was playing sports and took it off. However, it should be noted that there are some internet myths, often spread by the "Birthers" (people who refuse to believe that Barack Obama was born in America), that Mr. Obama had a secret marriage before he met Michelle. Some sources also claim he had a secret child. Like most of the assertions the Birthers make, there is no credible evidence of any of it. Based on all the available facts we have, there is no proof that Barack Obama was married prior to marrying Michelle, nor does he have a secret child. And old photos which show him wearing some kind of ring do not prove either myth.

There are many photos of Mr. Obama as a young man and they do not show him wearing a wedding ring. He began wearing a wedding ring in 1992 when he married his wife Michelle. Further, there is another internet myth that claims he wears a "Muslim" wedding ring (or a ring with Arabic writing on it) -- this too is false.
