Yes he left. Bill wanted to pursue his solo career and wanted to play more with The Sons Of Champlin, his original band. He will be missed in Chicago, however, Lou Pardini is doing a fine job in his place. Long live Chicago!!
Unfortunatley Chicago has become a tribute band to itself. In recent years the 4 remaining original band members aren't even present at their own concerts. When new material is released a dozen of additional musicians are needed to produce a product. The band has been stagnant as far as output of original music and basically perform the same set list at each concert. I applaud Bill Champlin for leaving. Musicians need to grow and persue new avenues of their craft. I never thought I would ever say that Chicago should hang it up but it seems they are content to rely on just exisiting. Some once told me "if you are in the music business and you not striving to be great then why bother"
