None.As a matter of fact, none existed until the year 1949.

More accurate way of asking the question should be:

Did China Nationalist Party or Communist Party take part in WW2?

And the answer is both. They co-existed from 1927-1949 in the mainland China.

Why did china refuse to accept Taiwan as an independent nation?

If Taiwan were to take the gamble and cross that line, the argument goes, it will have moved closer to "de jure independence," or legal separation from the mainland, and Beijing would have little choice but to engage it militarily. And yet, Taiwan has repeatedly "declared" its independence ever since the island's process of democratization began at the end of the last century.

What year was Taiwan founded?

Taiwan is an island which has a different government than the Chinese mainland because the losing non-communist forces during the Chinese civil war fled to Taiwan leaving the communists to take over the mainland. The official title of Taiwan is the 'Republic of China'

When is China due to take back Taiwan?

Taiwan has been governed by the Republic of China since 1945 when China acquired Taiwan from Japan after World War 2.

Should Taiwan be Returned to China?

From China's perspective, there is only one China in the world. Taiwan has been a part of China for hundreds of years. They speak the same language, celebrate the same festivals, and have almost the same culture. The present situation of separation between Taiwan and China mainland is the result of Civil War of China(or Liberation War of China 1946-1950). The former government of China, the KMT party government, fled to Taiwan island because of the total defeat in the mainland. Meanwhile, Communist China had no ability to cross the strait to reunite Taiwan island at that time. In China's view, the problem of Taiwan and China not already being reunited is due to interference from the U.S. government. In 1949, the Chinese government announced that Taiwan is a province of China. Since then, all the countries which want to establish a foreign relationship with PRC must recognize that Taiwan's belonging to China. The UN also recognizes that Taiwan belongs to China. In Taiwan's society today, DPP politicians who are absolute supporters of Taiwan's independence are in control, but a number of Taiwanses people believe there is only one China and that Taiwan is part of it. For economic reasons, as well as avoiding war, Taiwan should not be independent. Only the reunification of Taiwan with China will give Taiwan a more broader future. It is advantagous to mainland China that reunification with Taiwan take place because the Taiwanese people speak standard Chinese and know deeply about China. Mastering Chinese will be rather important in the future. So Taiwan maintaining a close relationship with mainland China will be the best what it can be. It isn't that the people or government of Taiwan see no cultural connection between the two countries; it's just that people are reluctant to give up their rights and submit to the rule of an autocratic government. Also, the threat of force has been made by China, and this certainly doesn't make the mainland seem any more appealing. (Taiwan has also put on military displays on their coast, so both countries are guilty of provoking the other.) As for the question of whether China has any right to claim Taiwan as its own, I've always thought that the claim made by China is flawed: Taiwan was a part of China in imperial times, and it was part of the Republic of China, but it was never a part of the People's Republic of China. The People's Republic was created by the people's struggle against the KMT, and that struggle never took place in Taiwan. A Communist government is, by definition, supposed to have been chosen by the people, not forced upon them by the Communist government of a neighboring region. For this reason, it seems illogical to suggest that just because it was a part of China's former incarnations, Taiwan should be considered a part of this most recent one. (The same could be said of Tibet.)

What is the debate on China and Taiwan province?

The People's Republic of China recognises Taiwan as one of it's province. While the people from both sides of the sea often refers to each other as 'brothers and sisters'. It is clear however, the officials of Taiwan want it to be an independence country. But if you have lived in China for 10 years like I did, you can clearly see the passion of the 'Taiwaness' to not to be 'Taiwaness'. In the past, when Taiwan was at its peak power, China was still very poor, and this is one of the first reason that caused the officials of Taiwan to wish for independence. However as China is now every powerful, western countries do 'take sides'. For example: US stated it does not recognise Taiwan as a country. To be a globally recognised country, there must be a representitive at the United Nation, Taiwan has no such representitive.

Chinese taipei or Taiwan is same?

china does not want taiwan to be alone in the olympics so they refer it as to chinese taipei. the taiwanese do not want to be known as chinese taipei if u look at a world map it is known as taiwan. but some people in china call it chinese taipei. the taiwanese aint stupid, they know about china. and what they do there. they know if china get taiwan back they will be slaves to them. some taiwanese are haveing an identiny crisis thinking if there chinese or not.. the people of taiwan are very nice. dont get upset if they stair at you it is because they only see taiwanese and not many visiters oftan because taiwan aint that popular yet. it is known though for its beefy noodles. even though taiwan is not part of china the chinese goverment is in taiwan. so there lots of chinese people who live in taiwan. and also alot speak chinese. in china they say lies saying that taiwan is part of china. in 2007 people think this is the year china gonna take taiwan. but it never happened. and rumors in 2011 same thing never happened. here we are in 2012. when will china take over taiwan? that is something we will never know yet till it happens. but anyway china can takeover taiwan if they want but there just no need. they make buisness with each other though. by giveing taiwan there chinese food recipes to sell in taiwan. but they do know that taiwan will be back up by us if china attacks. some people wonder why does china enter the olympics? because they want to prove to the world how there system works best. china says " if your try to back away form us during the olympics we will invade taiwan" so they have no choice as to refer it as to chinese taipei. did this awnser your question? i hope it did i will be awnsering lots of questions about asia so most awnsers are going to be form me. i know i gave you more then what you asked but i wanted to give a full message on taiwan and the relates between china and taiwan. hope this helped

Why is China called the peoples republic of China?

cause china(people republic of china) and Taiwan was a contry, after war Taiwan (as republic of china)lost the war, so they separated.the communist got china,so they use the name, they cant be 2 china in the world, so they use Taiwan.but the real name is republic of china(ROC) Not totally correct and very misleading. Taiwan was awarded to Japan in 1895 because of military superiority of China. Taiwan people did not have a military and China sent ships to the island in order for sugarcane and numerous minerals to be mined and grown for money to be sent back to the Empress. The Republic of China is not a land/country but it is a "government". It was the name of the government on the mainland of China up until they were defeated just after WWII. Taiwan first tried to assert themselves as an independent country in 1895 and again in 1945 (approximately) after the defeat of Japan. Because Chiang, Kai Shek was an ally during WWII and since he was being defeated on the mainland, it was thought that if he took the island, that China could be monitored by the US. The people were mistreated and killed until they were subdued enough to stop fighting back and to realize that they could not take back their country. The real name of the island is Formosa or Taiwan...not "The Republic of China". The island has only been controlled by Chinese forces for a little over 100 years prior to Japan being the so-called "owners". Taiwan NEVER fought China...therefore they could never have lost. People should read and learn and not follow what anybody says or writes.

Did communism take over China in 1949?

After its victory in the Chinese Civil War, the Communist Party of China (CCP) led by Mao Zedong gained control of most of Mainland China. On 1 October 1949, they established the People's Republic of China as a Socialist State headed by a "Democratic Dictatorship" with the CCP as the only legal political party, thus, laying claim as the successor state of the ROC. The central government of the Chinese Nationalist Party led by Chiang Kai-shek retreated to the island of Taiwan that it had occupied at the end of World War II, and moved the ROC government there. Major armed hostilities ceased in 1950 but no peace treaty has been signed. An estimated 36 million died during the Great Chinese Famine of 1958-61.
