In the original book The Lord of the Rings, the Mouth of Sauron is not killed by anyone but returns behind the Black Gate before the battle starts, and his fate is unknown.
In Peter Jackson's movie adaptation of "The Return of the King", Aragorn slew the mouth of Sauron after it taunted them about slaying Frodo.
Gandalf was sent for a task, and that task is to thwart Sauron, and bring about his destruction. Gandalf is actually Olorin the wisest of the Maiar spirits from Valinor. He was sent over with 4 others to stop Sauron's evil. They were sent in the forms of old men. Gandalf wants to use others to fight Sauron

I think Gandalf came to Bilbo to either get a 14 man. (Another reply) Gandalf was helping the dwarves, and he believed that Bilbo could help. However, his help to the dwarves was secondary to his main mission: to get information about Sauron. Sauron is mentioned in the Hobbit, as the Necromancer; in the Lord of the Rings, Gandalf confirms that the "Necromancer" was no other than the old enemy, Sauron.
The Mouth of Sauron, in both the movie and the book The Return of the King, is a lieutenant of Sauron that knows Sauron's mind, so Sauron speaks through him. He is still a Numorean man, however, and hopes to gain much from Sauron's conquest of Middle-Earth.

Denethor was convinced beyond all doubt that Sauron was going to win. He chose rather than submit himself and his city to Sauron that he would kill himself, especially since he thought that Faramir was only seconds from death. Remember too that he had one of the seven Palantirs, so his constant communication with Sauron had driven him mad. Fortunately for the city, Gandalf was able to save Faramir and have him healed in the Houses of Healing by the King himself.
Pretty much just to keep his eyes on him. You see, Pippin looked in to the Palantiri and that made Sauron think he was the one with the ring. That was partly a good thing so Sauron wouldn't be after Frodo. But it also put Pippin in a lot of danger and Gandalf didn't want him to get captured and taken to Sauron who would've then questioned him until he found out about Frodo and his plan. Hope this helps.
Legolas, Gimli, Gandalf, Bilbo, Frodo, Sauron, Sarumon, Aragorn, Borimir, and lots of others.
There are a sufficent number of wizards in literature and myth that I would need to know which set of stories or mythologies you are referring to. If you are referring to the Lord of the Rings, for example, you have Gandalf the Grey, Gandalf the White, Saruman (all different manifestations of Gandalf), and Sauron.
Gandalf. Not even a Balrog can kill him.
