Gerald Ford was born on July 14,1913.During World War 2 he fought in the navy.In 1948 Ford married Elizabeth Betty Bloomer.The couple had four children.Shortly after Ford got married he was elected to his first term in Congress. In 1973 he became vice president after Spiro Agnew resigned.In 1974 president Richard Nixon resigned and Ford became the 38th president.As president Ford vetoed over 50 bills. In 1976 he ran for a second term but he lost the election to Jimmy Carter.In 1977 Ford retired to California.In 1982 his wife Betty established the Betty Ford Center.Gerald Ford died on December 26,2006 in Rancho Mirage,California at the age of 93.
