Many look to this question with a simple "no." However, I dont' believe that answer fully illuminates the intricate interweaving of God's nature, His omnipotence, and His ultimate righteousness. In fact I think it allows for paradoxical questions to arise, such as, "If God can do anything then can He sin?"

The truth is that being able to do anything does not make one omnipotent. That is not what the term describes. In American culture we feel the ability to do whatever we wish equals freedom. This can lead to the thought that if God is supreme then He has the ability to do whatever He wants. So if he wants to do evil what does that mean?

For those of us who believe in God and The Bible we have faith that God is righteous. In fact it is His righteousness and opinion on what is right that we base our moral philosphies on (such as honoring your parents, not killing people, loving your children, helping the poor or helpless, and etc.).

The definition of sin will vary based on what you believe. Judaism calls sin any action outside/against the law of God. Christianity describes sin to be similar to Judaism. In both cases sin is a catalyst for the separation of man and God. In this sense we will find that it is not possible for God to sin.

God does not act in a way against his own will. Since He is unchanging (Heb 6:17) His will does not change. In essence, He would not act in a way that was contradictory to Himself.

We, as humans with the free will to choose our own paths, created sin in the Garden of Eden. God, who gave us the decision to follow his path or blaze our own, did not put sin on us. We grabbed it ourselves when we ate of the fruit of the Tree of the Knowledge of Good and Evil (Etz HaDaat Tov V'Ra).

No. What is darkness? Is it a tangible thing, or did it create itself? No. Darkness is the absence of light. In the same way, What is sin? If you look at Genesis, it says that Adam and Eve hid from god after they sinned. They separated themselves from god. Sin is the absence of god.

No as god is sinless and does not like sin, he did not make sin. Satan tempted Adam and Eve and sin came for ever on mankind. Disobedience to God made sin, for that is what sin is. Its Disobedience to God that is the result of a concious choice, that is exercise of one's free will. Sin has nothing to do with God.

Was it a sin when God ordered Joshua to kill all the people of Jericho, in an act of genocide? Would it be a sin if a king or president ordered his general to kill all the people of a city, in an act of genocide?

If the answer to the second question is 'yes', then the answer to the first question must also be 'yes', which means that God can sin if it suits his purpose. Unless we define sin as a wrongful act performed by anyone except God.

No, God did not create sins. Sin is living in enmity with God and going against righteousness.

What is a sin for Catholics?

Catholics view sin as an act that God finds offensive. Catholics believe there are two types of sin, venial and mortal. Whereas a mortal sin takes a person out of God's graces, a venial sin does not. Catholics believe that all sins can be forgiven by God; no sin is too big for God to forgive.
