According to Islam, Jihad is sanctified by God, provided that it is performed in accordance with the requirements stated in the Shari'a. Just about every other group of people rejects the concept of Jihad as something sanctified by God, either because they do not believe that God has ordered Muslims to become stronger in their faith or conquer other countries or because they do not believe that the Muslim God exists.

That depends upon whom you ask, and how you define jihad. Dictionaries define it as "the duty of Muslims to maintain Islam, through striving, struggling, and perseverance."

Muslims will, clearly, see jihad as Divinely sanctified, since it is an Islamic duty. The only remaining issue would be how to carry it out.

Non-Muslims will be divided among:

a) those who sympathize with Islam or are influenced by it;

b) those who are neutral concerning Islam; and

c) those who are hostile to Islam, or believe that it is not a true religion.

If jihad is carried out through methods that are legal under international law, then group "a" may see it as Divinely-sanctified, or at least a positive thing. Group "b" might not have formulated an opinion on the matter. Group "c" would not see jihad as Divinely sanctified.

If jihad is carried out by means that are not legal under international law (such as through violence), then many Muslims (and their sympathizers) would not see that form of jihad as sanctified; and non-Muslims of groups "b" and "c" also would not.

Jihad is a tenet of Islam and a religious duty to strive in the way of God. There are two general ways to do this, the Greater Jihad and the Lesser Jihad. The Greater Jihad is an introspective journey to conquer your internal demons and follow the Divine Laws more closely than previously; this kind of jihad should be entirely peaceful. The Lesser Jihad refers to conflicts and confrontations between Muslims and Non-Muslims or other Muslims, which often erupt in war, but can also be performed through non-violent protests, debate, and advocacy. It is the Lesser Jihad which is often cast as a Holy War.

Muslims believe in jihad because it is a tenet of Islam and a religious duty to strive in the way of God.However, we must clarify that there are two forms of Jihad: the Greater Jihad and the Lesser Jihad. The Lesser Jihad refers to conflicts and confrontations between Muslims and Non-Muslims or other Muslims, which often erupt in war, but can also be performed through non-violent protests, debate, and advocacy. God did. Jihad means, simply, to strive to establish good, over evil. It can take many forms: writing, speaking, voting, etc. It can also take the form of fighting; however, it can never take the form of terrorism. God established these things not only for the Muslims. He established it even in the Bible. But terrorism is something different completely. Terrorism is not jihad because jihad is only for just causes and in just ways.

missing one hour of football on Sundays. Supposedly Jihad is a sacrifice for "God".

There is no name for Islamic holy war. You were thinking of Jihad, I know because the Media is a LIAR! Jihad means to Struggle or to Strive, for the Sake of GOD. The war could be called Jihad, but Jihad isn't always war. and war isn't COWARDLY SUICIDE BOMBING, and KILLING INNOCENTS ISLAM PROHIBITS THAT. (5:32)

First, we need to define Jihad. It is the Lesser Jihad which is often cast as a Holy War.Now. the term "compete in jihad" does not make sense. If the question is asking if every Muslim participates in jihad, the answer is "No"; there is no group of people who uniformly do one set of things. However, most Muslims try to participate in jihad, but involvement in Greater Jihad (self-reflection) is far more common than Lesser Jihad (striving to change the world), and involvement in peaceful Lesser Jihad (advocacy and protests) is far more common than violent Lesser Jihad (holy war).

YES. Jihad is a Qur'anic injunction, so there is no difference between the Sunni and Shiite views of Jihad. The only Islamic group that rejects Jihad as a general concept is the Ahmadiyya community, who strictly view Jihad as an internal struggle.Both Sunnis and Shiites see Jihad as a tenet of Islam and a religious duty to strive in the way of God. There are two general ways to do this, the Greater Jihad and the Lesser Jihad. Answer 1In a sense, depending on interpretation, the Qur'an refutes those who shirk Jihad by exile or, in some extreme cases, death. In Islam, shirking is considered worse than killing. Answer 2 Shirk; that means worshiping a partner to Allah (or God in English and same God worshiped in Judaism and Christianity); is the severest sin committed by a person. Allah may forgive any sin except the sin of Shirk. Regarding Jihad, there are two types of Jihad: the minor jihad that is military Jihad and the major jihad that is self Jihad. However, each jihad type has its rules and definitions. You be referred to related questions below for detailed information on Jihad."Say: if your fathers, your sons, your brothers, your wives, your tribes, the wealth that you have gathered and merchandise that you are afraid will have no buyers, and homes that you like - are all these dearer to you than Allah and His Messenger and fighting Jihad for His sake? Then wait for Allah to bring his judgment, and Allah shall not guide the evildoers." [Qur'an 9:24]. Refer to related questions below to know the real meaning of Jihad and its rules. It is enough to mention here that Jihad doesn't mean attacking others or waging wars against them. It means by military Jihad defending your lands, homes, religion, and families if you been attacked by outsiders.
