Anne Boleyn
Henry VIII broke from Rome so that he could divorce his current wife Katherine of Aragon and marry his new found love Anne Boleyn
he started to. then he fell in love with anne boleyn.
Because he was in love with Jane Seymour.
"Greensleeves" was a love song possibly written for Henry the VIII's future queen. The song predates "What child is this" which uses a similar tune.
Her Uncle was the Duke at court along with her sister mary.
Henry VIII broke with the church because the Pope refused to grant him a divorce from Katherine of Aragon. He desired a divorce so that he would be free to marry Anne Boleyn, who he believed would produce a male heir. Queen Katherine was beyond childbearing years. The combination of Queen Katherine not producing a living male heir and Henry's passion for Anne Boleyn drove him to break with the church.
There were several reasons why Henry VIII did not want to remain married to Catherine of Aragon. The major reason was because she did not give him the son and heir he needed. The second was because he had fallen in love with Anne Boleyn.
He LOVED Anne Boleyn... er... at least for awhile. But that love ended up turning into hatred. After he had her beheaded, he did not speak her name as long as he lived.
Henry decided that he no longer loved Anne because she couldn't give him a son and had fallen in love with Jane Seymour. He accused her of having an affair and of course found her guilty. As a result he had her beheaded but at the time when she was executed, Henry played a game of tennis!
She married Henry VII's son, Henry VIII. See the related question below.
