Run. Very fast. Runners were used to deliver messages along the "Iroquois Trail", Which later became the route for the Erie Canal. It took trained Iroquois runners three days to deliver messages from the farthest eastern village north of Albany to the farthest western village southwest of Buffalo. Today it takes an entire day to cover the same distance in a car.
