Opinion

Of course not, it's made up stories. How can anyone ever rise from the dead.

Opinion

Yes! That is the basis for Christian belief. He rose from the dead because God allowed him because he wanted to prove he was the son of God! And he did.

Opinion

There are various examples of miracles like this in The Bible (John11:38:44 ) - Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead 4 days after Lazarus died and many witnesses saw this happen.

Paul the apostle did a similar thing to Ephesus, the young man who fell asleep then fell off a 3 story building to his death. He laid on the young man who was dead and God made him come alive.

Opinion

Yes. This question has been exhaustively asked and answered since shortly after Jesus' crucifixion. Even critical biblical scholars point to 'Paul's Creed' as the earliest source of evidence of the resurrection, dated circa 51-55 AD, which also has 'creedal summaries' of Peter, John and Christian beliefs that they date to circa 35 AD, a few years after the death and resurrection of 31 AD. Many biblical scholars use this 'summary' as their primary proof necessary of the resurrection. There are no Gospel accounts required and the endless debates over who wrote first, who witnessed, who copied, etc. which only deflects from the answer.

It is recommended then that all read 'Paul's Creed' in 1 Corinthians 15.

In this world, there will always be those on one side or the other of any topic. It is up to the individual to search out the truth as they will come to know it. I highly recommend a book, 'The Case for the Resurrection,' by Gary Habermans, Ph.D.. Also, YouTube has a video of a debate of a resurrection skeptic, Tim Callahan, who wrote the book, 'Secrets of the Bible.' It is an interesting beginning to an answer to your question.

Another answer:

"I pass on to you what was most important and what also had to be passed on to me - that Christ died for our sins, just as the Scriptures said. He was buried, and HE WAS RAISED ON THE THIRD DAY, as the Scriptures said." (I Cor.15:3-4 NLT New Living Translation)

"He was seen by Peter and then by the twelve apostles. After that, He was seen by more than five hundred of His followers at one time... Then He was seen by James and later by the apostles. Last of all, l saw Him, too, long after the others, as though I had been born at the wrong time." (verses 5-8)

"So it makes no difference whether I preach or they preach. The important thing is THAT YOU BELIEVE what we preached to you." (verse 11)

"But tell me this - since we preach that Christ rose from the dead, why are some of you saying there will be no resurrection of the dead? For if there is no resurrection of the dead, then CHRIST HAS NOT RISEN EITHER. And if Christ was not raised, then all our preaching is useless, and your trust in God is useless. And we apostles would be lying about God, for we have said that God raised Christ from the grave, but that can't be True if there is no resurrection of the dead. If there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ has not been raised." (verses 12-16)

"And if Christ has not been raised, then your faith is useless, and you are still under condemnation for your sins. In that case, all who have died BELIEVING in Christ have perished! And if we have Hope in Christ only for THIS LIFE, we are the most miserable people in the world." (verses 17-19)

"But THE FACT IS that CHRIST HAS BEEN RAISED FROM THE DEAD. He has become the FIRST of a great harvest of those who WILL BE RAISED TO LIFE AGAIN... Everyone dies because all of us are related to Adam, the first man. But all who are related to Christ, the other [or second] man, will be given New Life." (verses 20-22)

Yes.

Jesus was crucified on the Friday before the Sabbath (Saturday) and rose again on the Sunday afterwards (the 'third day').

In modern society we remember the crucifixion on Good Friday and we celebrate the resurrection on Easter Day, although the name 'Easter' originally came from pagan origins.

Yes.

Jesus was crucified on a Wednesday before the Special Passover Sabbath (a Thursday) and rose again on Saturday night after sunset 6pm (technically the start of Sunday). This accounts for the 3 days and 3 nights in the heart of the earth which Jonah and Jesus both prophesied.

Yes, God raised Jesus to life.

Only God could raise Him, certainly no human could do such a thing. God is the

almighty creator of life.

Here are a couple of examples from the New Testament :

1. In Acts 2 starting at verse 22, Peter states "Men of Israel, hear these words, Jesus of Nazareth...................v.23 you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified and put to death: WHOM GOD RAISED UP. (restored to life) having destroyed the pains of death....."

2. 1 Cor. 6:14 - "God raised up the Lord Jesus and will also raise us up by His power."

No. The earliest New Testament gospel account is Mark's Gospel, which originally ended at verse 16:8, when the young man told the women that Jesus was risen and they fled in terror, telling no one. In this original version, the risen Jesus appeared to no one at all and we therefore have no evidence of a resurrection. The 'Long Ending' (verses 16:9-20) was added much later and reflects Christian piety of a later period.

There are discrepancies in the gospel accounts of the resurrection, prompting Archbishop Peter Carnley to write:
"The presence of discrepancies might be a sign of historicity if we had four clearly independent but slightly different versions of the story, if only for the reason that four witnesses are better than one. But, of course, it is now impossible to argue that what we have in the four gospel accounts of the empty tomb are four contemporaneous but independent accounts of the one event. Modern redactional studies of the traditions account for the discrepancies as literary developments at the hand of later redactors of what was originally one report of the empty tomb...

There is no suggestion that the tomb was discovered by different witnesses on four different occasions, so it is in fact impossible to argue that the discrepancies were introduced by different witnesses of the one event; rather, they can be explained as four different redactions for apologetic and kerygmatic reasons of a single story originating from one source
.

That original account is in Mark's Gospel, which was written anonymously, so we have no way of knowing where the author obtained his information about the empty tomb and whether this was evidence of a grave robber, perhaps the young man whom the women disturbed, or of a resurrection.

The earliest New Testament gospel, although originally anonymous, is now known as Mark's Gospel. This Gospel originally ended at verse 16:8 with the young man telling the women that Jesus was risen and they fled in terror, telling no one. From this, we can not say that Jesus really rose from the dead, since we do not know who the young man was nor how reliable his testimony might have been. It also raises doubts because, if the women he spoke to never told another person, we are left to wonder how the author even knew this much. So far, we have no credible evidence that Jesus really rose from the dead.

The other New Testament gospels were largely based on Mark, either directly (Matthew, Luke) or indirectly (John), which is significant because it raises doubts about how the authors suddenly knew so much about the resurrection when they had to rely on Mark for much of their information about the mission of Jesus. Another blow to their credibility is that each of their accounts is so completely different from the others, no matter how hard we try to gloss over the differences.

Although Mark did originally end at verse 16:8, the 'Long Ending' was eventually added to Mark, skilfully bringing it more or less in harmony with both Matthew and Luke. But there are good reasons to dismiss an account that the original evangelist had not thought to write.

The best we can say is that there is no real evidence for the resurrection of Jesus although it was widely believed, even before the time the gospels were written, that Jesus had risen from the dead.

Why is it inportent to know that Jesus did not stay dead?

"If Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and so is your faith."More than that, we are then found to be false witnesses about God, for we have testified about God that He raised Christ from the dead. But He did not raise Him if in fact the dead are not raised."For if the dead are not raised, then Christ has not been risen either. And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins."Then those also who have fallen asleep [died] in Christ are lost."If only for this life we have hope in Christ, we are to be pitied more than all men." (I Cor.15:14-19 NIV)

Why is Jesus' death and resurrection the most important events in history for Christian's?

Its important because if He didnt ressurect then the law wouldn't be complete. The law was that all sinners would have their punishment in hell. So by Jesus dying, being buried and ressurected then ascended into Heaven the law was complete. Because He is ressurected we can be saved because Jesus is alive not dead.
