In the book of Genesis, Abraham has two sons. He has Ishmael with his concubine Hagar, and then he has Isaac with his wife Sarah. God's promise to Abraham that he would be the father of great nations is taken to apply to both sons. The later text of The Bible focuses on the descendants of Isaac, although Ishmaelites do show up from time to time. The Quran accepts the outline I've just given, quibbles with several details, and then focuses on what happens to Ishmael. So, the Biblical and Quranic texts set things up so Jews and Arabs are, effectively, cousins.

Answer: No. The Jews descended from Isaac, and the Arabs from Ishmael. These were the two sons of Abraham from two different women. "Muslim" is not an ethnic designation like "Jew". Many non-Arabs are Muslim. In fact, the majority of Muslims are non-Arab.

Who is ismail?

There are several people of that name, but you're probably thinking of Ishmael, the son of Abraham. In Jewish tradition, Ishmael was Abraham's first son but Isaac, his second, was his favorite. In Muslim tradition, Ishmael was the favorite son. This is understandable if you know that Isaac is considered the father of the Hebrews (Jews) and Ishmael the father of the Arabs. _______________________________________________ Both Abraham's sons; Ismael and Isaac; are favorite to prophet Abraham 9peace be upon them all). However, Ismael was the oldest son and helped prophet Abraham in rebuilding Kaaba. Ismael is grandfather of Muslims (not Arabs) as well as Isaac is the grandfather of Jews

What is Muslim descent?

Since there are more than 1.6 Billion Muslims in every country on this planet, the proper answer is from "humans." But I think you mean to ask who are the Arab Muslims descended from? Arabs are descended from Abraham's first son, Ishmaeel (through wife Hagar). Thus the Arabs and Jews are cousins as the Jews are descened from Abraham's second son, Isacc (through Sarah). Abraham did have several other sons besides these two!
