Did Jews ever give up during the holocaust?
In a lot of cases, the Jews did not that they were being led to slaughter. The Nazis told them that they were going to take a large group shower, but instead of water coming out of the shower head, poison gas did.
As with any group, there were Jews who could not take life in the concentration camps, and some who resisted until the end.
Over 7 million Jews were killed throughout Europe during the Holocaust. I really don't see how people can deny that the Holocaust happened at all. Think of all of the survivors. You can't fake that kind of trauma to a person's spirit. _________ The 'classic' figure is 6 million, but some historians give the range 5.1-6 million. (7 million is too high). For the question of evidence see the related question.
The typical name given the holocaust by Jews is, "Shoah", or in Hebrew, "Ha Shoah". This word means, "The catastrophe", and refers to the systematic torture and murder of millions of Jews by the German police and soldiers in World War 2. "Holocaust" is a fairly new name given to the atrocities and murders committed by the German police and soldiers on any of the peoples that Hitler did not like.
There are no separate numbers for Austria; as Austria & Germany were one country during the time period for the Holocaust. The eve-of-war population of Jews in Germany and Austria is estimated to have been about 240,000 of whom about 210,000 were killed. Most of the remainder survived by escaping to other countries. ____ Despite the difficulties mentioned above attempts have been made to separate the figures for Germany and Austria. The number of Austrian…
There are numerous ways people remember the Holocaust. Yad Vashem in Israel honors the victims, survivors, and the ones who helped Jews during that time. Yom HaShoah is the Holocaust Memorial Day in Israel. United States Holocaust Memorial Museum (USHMM) in Washington D.C. is full of information. January 27 is the international Holocaust Memorial day, as Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated January 27, 1945. Movies, television shows, and docudramas set during the Holocaust include true stories. Biographies…
No. It is perfectly alright to give a Jewish girl a book about the Holocaust, provided it is an accurate book about the Holocaust (as opposed to a Holocaust Denial book). However, bear in mind that the Holocaust is a depressing topic and so it might be less than optimal to give a Holocaust book as a present on a special occasion.
In most cases the Jews had days or weeks to prepare. For example the scene in the film 'Schindler's List' where the ghetto is cleared was made up for dramatic purposes, in reality they had many days' notice and the evacuation happened during the daytime. Towards the end of the Holocaust the deportation of Jews was a well practised procedure, with for example, those Jews deported from Hungary were deported in 90 days.
I would say about 60,000 if not more Jews were killed in the Soviet Union during the Holocaust. Adolf Hitler despised the Jews B/C they refused to believe like he did. It was all about religion. The Jews wanted to keep their religion and did not want to change it. On the other hand, Hitler wanted them to convert to his religion. B/C they refused it caused their death. I won't argue with the numbers…
