John Cabot is the anglicised name of Italian Giovanni Caboto, an explorer and navigator who is said to have been the second mariner (after Columbus) to reach North America. He explored the Canadian coastline, and tried to discover a north-west passage.
Hudson sailed across the Atlantic Ocean to get to North America.
There were many explorers that set out to explore the New World. The first English explorer to reach the New World was John Cabot.

John Cabot (Zuan Chabotto, 1450-1499) was lost at sea while sailing on an expedition to North America, specifically what is now eastern Canada. John Cabot landed somewhere in eastern Canada in 1497, becoming the first European to reach North America after the Vikings around 1000 AD.
