JFK had a pulse and heartbeat upon arrival at Parklawn, although slight. Doctors had no hope to save him, however, he was given a tracheotomy in an effort to allow him to breathe. From most accounts he was dead within a half hour of the first shot which hit him in the throat.

He died very soon after he was hit- before he reached the hospital if not instantly.
