He joined other Anti-Federalists in opposition to the new Constitution, because they thought it was fundamentally flawed, infringed on the soveriegnty of the individual states, and did not go far enough to assure liberties of individuals. He walked out after 6 weeks and did not sign the Constitution. He disappeared on December 12, 1829 and was never seen again.
