I think they believed in it because Egyptians back then were very superstitious and religious. They believed in Egyptian gods and goddesses that we do not think exist, so they might believe in things in which we don't think exist. I am not very knowledgeable about this sort of thing, so please correct me if I'm wrong xD
King Tutankaten grew up in the North Palace at Akhetaten. His parentage is uncertain, but an inscription on a block from Akhetaten tells us that he was the son of a king and he may have been the son of the heretic king Akhenaten and his wife Kiya. King Tut was about 18 years old when he died, and had no great claim to fame other than the fact that he was an Egyptian pharoah. His fame in history is mostly due to the discovery of his tomb in 1922, which was completely almost intact.
to control the world, make everyone slaves, have a daily execution, being worshipped, like the omnipotent pharaoh he was. commanding here, comanding there... and of course, having time with his girlfriend(s)
he had twins one larger than the other that were found with his body. the gender was not able to be found.
he was first married at 13 years old so about 1345 bc i think1369
The major achievement is that finding the intact tomb, we learned more about ancient Egypt from King Tut than any other ancient Egyptian.

King Tutankhamun was not a very popular king. There is no personal significance that signifies his popularity in the fact that he was buried in three coffins-this is simply how pharaohs were buried according to the Egyptian religion. King Tutankhamun's tomb was the only tomb of a pharaoh found to date that had been untouched since the time of its original closing, and therefore it contained many more riches. However, the haphazard placing of precious objects in the tomb shows a general lack of respect for the king himself. In short, it was mainly a religious significance rather than a sign of personal respect and liking for the king himself.
Because the pharaoh always had a son or someone to take the throne and the people believed that they we chosen by the gods
more than likely not; cats were mostly worshipped then also..
