According to The Bible, Moses led the Hebrews out of slavery in Egypt.

However the respected Israeli archaeologist, Israel Finkelstein says that over 90 per cent of scholars do not believe that there was an Exodus from Egypt as described in the Bible. Modern scholars say that the Israelites were really Canaanites who left the coastal cities and peacefully settled in the hitherto sparsely populated mountainous hinterland.

Religious Jewish Answer

Yes.

Secular Jewish Answer

Possibly, but there is scant evidence outside of the Bible to prove or lend credence to the idea of a massive slave exodus from Egypt. It does, however, serve as a powerful myth for the Jewish national identity.
