Yes he did. In 1885 George Westinghouse, head of the Westinghouse Electric Company, bought the patent rights to Tesla's system of dynamos, Transformers and motors. Westinghouse used Tesla's alternating current system to light the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893 in Chicago.
Nikola Tesla invented AC, probably a transformer as well but don't quote that.
Nikola Tesla
He was the John Scott medal for his polyphase power system in 1934.
Alternating Current
Nikola Tesla invented the Tesla coil as part of his research on wireless transmission of electrical energy. He developed the coil to experiment with high-frequency alternating currents and wireless power transmission. The Tesla coil allowed him to study electrical resonance and create high-voltage, high-frequency electricity.
Guglielmo Marconi raced against Nikola Tesla to win a patent for the radio
Nikola Tesla.
Thomas Edison believed it was dangerous to fool around with alternating currents and promoted the use of direct current instead. He was in a bitter rivalry with Nikola Tesla, who championed the use of alternating current for its efficiency over long distances.
Tesla invented the alternating current. He tried to provide free electricity.
Nikola Tesla pictured it in his mind and later he came up with the patent.
Two words, Nikola Tesla
