Did Noah and his sons and their wives repopulate the earth by themselves?

No, because we now know from detailed Egyptian records that Egypt was unaffected by Noah's Flood, which The Bible says occurred some four and a half thousand years ago. Egypt was already densely populated along the River Nile, and their descendants continued to live in Egypt. The same is true of the Assyrians, the Chinese, Africans and so on. They were already there, and the evidence shows it.

According to tradition Noah had three sons and their wives, who survived the Flood; and they, but not Noah and his own wife, had children after the flood.

Population statisticians estimate that by 1800, there were one billion people living.

From 1800 to 1920, the world's population doubled, reaching 2 billion (see Link). Since then, it has more than tripled again. Even taking disease and wars into account, one couple could populate the Earth in just 3800 years.

In this calculator, starting with the six people ("dollars") mentioned above, adding zero "dollars" per year and assuming just one-half percent growth per year for 3800 years (from the Flood until 1820), we see that one billion people will result by that time. (Since then, the growth rate has increased and is a matter of record).

One-half percent growth is a conservative figure, in line with historical estimates, and allows for dips due to disease or calamity. (Historically, "baby booms" have been noted after events of widespread death.)

Moreover, had there been the thousands of generations of humans which Evolutionary chronology theorizes, we would ask: Where are all the bones? The actual finds, including layers of habitation and other physical signs, are relatively sparse and accord with a recent date of Creation.
