Oscar Romero was a human and all humans make bad decisions nearly every day. Oscar Romero most certainly made decisions he later regretted. Some say he was slow to react to the violence and injustices being carried out against the poor in El Salvador. He had led a very academic and sheltered existence until he was selected as archbishop. It took a while for him to become totally aware of the situation but, once he was enlightened, he reacted to try and stop the abuses. This quickly led to his murder by right wing death squads who did the dirty work for the government.
