Contrary to internet myths, Barack Obama was not raised Muslim, nor did he ever practice that religion. His biological father was born a Muslim but had long since left the religion and become an atheist by the time Barack Obama was born in Hawaii in 1961. Mostly, Mr. Obama was raised by his mother, a non-practicing Protestant Christian, and his maternal grandparents, who were either Methodists or Unitarians (sources differ on which denomination)-- but his grandparents were in fact Christians, and that is what he was taught to follow. Mr. Obama did go through a period of religious doubt, but he returned to Christianity and was married in a Protestant church; further, he and his wife have raised their daughters as Protestants. If you are asking whether he is an evangelical or a conservative Christian, he does not seem to be; but he definitely does believe in Jesus Christ.
