It was a very simple wedding, but it met the formalities of what makes a wedding. There was a bride and a groom and an officiant. I know, one usually expects there to be guests, and the father of the bride, and the mother of the groom, and a photographer, and a caterer, and bridesmaids, and a bartender, and a best man and matron of honour, and musicians, and the groom's crotchety maiden aunt, and the bride's cousin who is an awesome dancer, and someone who has too much to drink and passes out under a table, but none of these are actually necessary to have a wedding. A bride, a groom, and an officiant you really do need. There may be other formal legal requirements imposed by various jurisdictions, such as other witnesses, licences, health tests, the consent of the bride's father, payment of a goat by the groom, etc. but these are local customs which do not apply to Romeo and Juliet's situation.
