Davy Crockett fought and died at "The Alamo". The Mexican dictator, Santa Anna, led the army of 5,000 Mexican soldiers against the defenders. These defenders were comprised of men who were fighting for the God given rights and liberties as guaranteed by "The Mexican Constitution of 1824". As is always the case, dictators detest rights of their people and will kill any and all who stand in their way.
As for Goliad, it was General Urea that led a large contingent of the Mexican army against Col. Fannin.
This war started out as a war of fighting for rights and liberties and ended up as a war of independence.
