Yes, but only during WWII. Special "war nickels" containing silver nickel were minted from late 1942 till the end of 1945. The War Nickel composition was 56% copper, 35% silver and 9% manganese.

This transition took place during the mintage year so there are many 1942 nickels without silver in them as well. War nickels can be identified by the large mint mark (P, D, or S) on the reverse side of the coin above Monticello.

All other US nickels, regardless of date, have been made of an alloy containing 25% nickel and 75% copper.

Yes, United States nickels produced from 1866 to 1945 were made with a composition of 75% copper and 25% nickel. However, during World War II (1942-1945), due to the shortage of nickel metal for the war effort, nickels were made with a composition of 56% copper, 35% silver, and 9% manganese. After 1945, the composition of nickels returned to the original copper-nickel alloy.
