It's a minor stretch, but the Elder Scrolls games are fantasy RPG games much like WoW. Sure, you have to play alone, but you improve, evolve, and grow (let's not mention increase in power) much like WoW. Better yet, it's more "hands-on" than WoW.

Herbalism can be combined with Alchemy to make potions, or Inscription to make glyphs and scrolls. If you are only interested in money you can have skinning or mining as your second profession and sell the proceeds.

Bow Wow Wow was created in 1980.
The only way on your own to downgrade is to have copies of each patch level of Wow - that is after each patch save the game folders to a backup location. If you have a friend who hasn't patched yet, a copy of their game folder will work (just remove preferences.)
