Some of the astronauts were Christians, as were some of the workers who manufactured and assembled all the complex equipment the astronauts used to get to the moon and back.

Buzz Aldrin was a devoted Prespyterian when he landed on the moon. Following the first lunar landing, Aldrin called on all the people of the earth to give thanks in his or her own way. During the moment of silence, Aldrin took communion. Aldrin was also one of the capsule communicators during the Apollo 8 mission.

Jim Irwin was the Capcom during the Apollo 12 mission. Irwin became the first person to quote The Bible from the surface of the moon when he walked on the moon during his Apollo 15 flight. Following his walk on the moon, Irwin formed the High Flight Foundation where he preached the gospel to millions of souls.e

Charlie Duke was Capcom during the Apollo 10 mission. He also served as the capcom during the first lunar landing. Duke eventually walked on the moon during his Apollo 16 flight. After he walked on the moon, Duke left NASA and became a prison minister.

Jack Lousma was a Sunday school teacher at a church in the NASA area when he was Capcom during the Apollo 10 and Apollo 13 missions. Lousma was the man Jim Lovell was talking to when he said "Houston, we've had a problem." Lousma spent 54 days in space aboard the second manned Skylab mission. He also commanded the 3rd Space Shuttle mission.

John Glenn, who was the first American to orbit the earth, was also a Sunday school teacher.

There were several other astronauts who regularly attended church, but were less vocal about their faith than the men mentioned above.
