It is one of the many theories. But we don't know for sure what killed them.
A tectonic disaster caused by massive collisions of the Earth's plates would have cause incredibly huge earthquakes, canyons and enormous volcanoes. Earth's plates were still developing during the periods of dinosaurs, so this theory is possible.
The earthquakes and collapsing lands would have caused dinosaurs to fall to their deaths. Those that survived would have been consumed by lava which erupted all over the planet as a result of the Earth's surface splitting open or forming volcanoes.
The sulphuric gasses released from the magma would be poisonous enough to gas the entire planet, choking living creatures and plants. The ash clouds would have also blocked out sunlight.
This is another theory that explains how so many marine dinosaurs survived to evolve into modern creatures, since the water protected them from the lava and gave them something to breathe other than the atmosphere. Masses of exposed magma would also cause torrential rain, as the steam evaporated in the atmosphere. Over time the rain would have cooled the surface of the Earth, creating new landforms and sealing the exposed cracks in the surface.
See related question below.
That is only a theory but this is how it works. So when the super volcano erupted tons and tons of ash and dust were thrust into the earth's atmosphere. The dust and ash blocked the sunlight. Without the sun the plants died which made the herbivores starve and die out. Then the meat eating carnivore dinosaurs would have no food and thus the whole entire species would die.
Nobody knows exactly how the dinosaurs died. Volcanic eruptions are just one of multiple theories.

There is no actual proof that the dinosaurs died of volcanoes. It is just one of the many theories. The volcano theory is that many volcanoes erupted, causing ash to block the sun, thus causing herbivores to starve and die. This soon led to the starvation of carnivores and eventually the death of all dinosaurs.
Nobody knows that for sure, because nobody was there to witness the K-T Extinction Event. However, most scientists believe that the asteroid impact killed off the dinosaurs. Although volcanism related climate change was reducing the biodiversity of dinosaurs, they would have survived if it hadn't been for the asteroid impact.

YES a supervolcano definitely killed the dinosaurs
i think all the dinosaurs died because a meteor hit the earth and killed them all
Because the meteor fell into Earth.
There were thousands of super volcanoes, Earth was only just still forming while the dinosaurs were around.
Nowhere on the planet is 'safe' from any super-volcano explosion anywhere. The last one of these events eliminated the dinosaurs from all over the earth.
The best super volcano is most likely the "hidden" volcano in Yellowstone park.
Girrafes do not exist
if temperature drops quick enough, plants die. if plants die, the dinosaurs that eat plants die. if those dinosaurs die, then the carnivorous meat-eating dinosaurs die. then, all dinosaurs die.
super volcan
The entire park of Yellowstone rest on a super volcano
They say that it was a Super Valcano in pre-historic days(dinosaurs). It is the largest Mountain the state of Arizona. DO not be frightned though because it has been dormant for 1000's of years.
no it isn't the mauna loa is the largest volcano in Hawaii
at the volcano
Dinosaurs Don't Die was created in 1975.
Birds are direct descendants of dinosaurs so they did not die out.
