Yes, the houses of the villas were usually very spacious and since the Romans loved to entertain, they would have extra rooms for people staying over.

How were the roman villas heated?

The Roman villas were heated by the hypocaust (hypocaustum, from the Ancient Greek hypo, "under. " and caust,"burnt"). This was an underfloor heating system. The floor was raised above the ground by pillars (pilae) made with alterations of layers of tiles and layers of concrete. Smoke and hot air from a furnace passed through the space which was created. Spaces were also created inside the walls with ceramic box tiles. This contributed to heating the ground floor rooms and heated the first floor rooms.

What were Roman house like?

It depends on their status. The wealthy had villas that were large and open. They were built in a square shape with an open courtyard in the middle with a fountain and all the rooms opened to the courtyard. There was a anteroom or waiting room as you enter for guests and then there would be the inner rooms for the owner and his family. Slaves were located in the back in a cell type room. The rooms had frescos on the walls and many had mosaic floors or inlaid floors. It is reported that Nero had a place with gems inlaid a domed ceiling and when the light hit them they would sparkle. The average Roman in Rome lived in apartment houses squeezed next to each other and were multistory. This is one reason why when fire started everything burned because it would jump from one location to another. It was very "slum" like from what I have read. The rural Roman lived in one or two rooms, but tried to copy the wealthy in shape and with the courtyard if they could.
