I am assuming you are referring to Mary Tudor, daughter of Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon the future Queen Mary I of England.

Katherine of Aragon was married to Henry VIII and together had Mary but Henry needed a son and heir to inherit after he died so he was determined to marry again. Henry fell in love with one of Katherine of Aragon's ladies, Anne Boleyn. Katherine had watched her husband have affairs for many years and never really blamed Henry, only the women he slept with. Katherine of Aragon thus still loved her husband who was trying to divorce her and blamed the Lady Anne for her suffering. Mary shared this same attitude and was confident that as soon as Anne Boleyn was gone her father would come to his senses and bring back both her mother and herself. She believed this up to her mother's death in January 1536 and then believed that she would be welcomed back after Anne was executed(though this did not happen).

A great deal of the actions against Mary that Anne's enemies have seemed to make her the cause of she actually didn't do. It was Henry's decision to keep Mary and her mother Katherine separate for he feared they would plot against him seemingly "for his own good" with the Emperor of Spain and the Pope. It was also her father, not her stepmother, that ordered that Mary-a former princess-wait on the infant who had taken her place to try to lessen her arrogance and stubbornness which reminded him so much of her mother Katherine. When Mary arrived at the Princess Elizabeth's household(her half-sister) she refused to submit to Lady Shelton who took care of Elizabeth. She refused to eat with the others and demanded special food and also claimed to be ill and thus unable to take care of her infant half-sister.

In 1534 when Queen Anne was visiting her daughter she sent for Mary and offered her a warm welcome to court and a reconciliation with her father if she would just accept their marriage. Obviously Anne knew how hard this must have been for Mary so she offered assistance with the only attachment of Mary recognition. Mary refused and said that she knew of no other queen but her mother but if her father's mistress would intercede for her with the king she would be grateful. First Mary insults Anne then she asks for a favor.

A few months later, when Queen Anne was visiting again, Mary left the royal chapel before the queen which was against etiquette. The queen was later told that Mary had in fact curtseyed to her although she did not see it. So Anne sent Mary a note again offering her friendship basically saying that the queen(herself) greets her warmly and is sorry she did not see her curtsy and so desires that "this may be the entrance of friendly correspondence" which she would embrace. Mary replied that it was impossible for the queen to have been there for her mother was not there and that again she acknowledged no other queen save her mother and the curtsy she made was to the altar not her.

Henry may have treated Mary better if he did not believe that Katherine, Mary's mother, could raise an army against him just as her mother Queen Isabella did in Spain. Both mother and daughter were a danger for they believed that they were the valid Queen of England and heir to throne. Their refusal to accept made peace difficult if not impossible in his realm which still needed a male heir which Katherine could not give him.
