Did any Swedes fight with the Allies?

With Sweden being a Neutral country I think that most of its citizens were of the same mindset.Whereas Norway ,Denmark,etc being attacked and they're military forces opposing the enemy, albeit a small force compared to the German might,the overwhelmed but not defeated remnant fled to sanctuary in Britain and joined the fight from there in the S.O.E. or the free Norwegion or Danish forces, as did the Dutch ,French,Czech,Polish.There could very well have been Swedish citizens who, as individuals came and joined the fight.

There was several swedish volunteers figthing with british and American forces, i know there were a few swedish soldiers fighting with the Americans at Omaha beach.

However most of the swedish volunteers went to fight with the finns in the winter war, and a small number fought with the Germans.

Sweden was able to remain officially neutral. But Sweden had to get along with Germany, or else the Germans would invade. Sweden is just a short cruise across the Baltic Sea from northern Germany. German industry depended on iron ore from Swedish mines to manufacture steel to keep the Nazi war machine rolling. The steady flow of this iron ore was crucial for Germany. The ore came from mines in the north of Sweden, and went out via railway across northern Norway to a port city. This was the reason there was fighting in Norway, and ultimately a German occupation of Norway - to secure the uninterrupted flow of Swedish iron ore.

Sweden also sold the Germans machined parts and ball bearings. Sweden also licensed its design for the 40mm Bofors antiaircraft automatic cannon to both sides. US Navy ships were covered with them, and the Germans used them too.

Sweden maintained its policy of neutrality during World War II. When the war began on September 1, 1939, the fate of Sweden was unclear. But by a combination of its geopolitical location in the Scandinavian Peninsula, successful realpolitik manoeuvring during an unpredictable course of events, and a dedicated military build-up after 1942, Sweden succeeded in keeping its official neutrality status throughout the war. The Swedish Government made a few concessions, and sometimes breached the nation's neutrality in favour of both Germany and later, the Western Allies.

During the German invasion of the Soviet Union, Sweden allowed the Wehrmacht to use Swedish railways to transport (June–July 1941) the German 163rd Infantry Division along with heavy weapons from Norway to Finland. German soldiers travelling on leave between Norway and Germany were allowed passage through Sweden- the so-called permittenttrafik. Iron ore was sold to Germany throughout the war. And for the Allies, Sweden shared military intelligence and helped to train soldiers made up of refugees from Denmark and Norway, to be used in the liberation of their home countries.[4][page needed] It also allowed the Allies to use Swedish airbases between 1944 and 1945.
