Any website or book/magazine depicting US Battleships (minus the new Iowa and North Carolina class battleships) will be the standard US warships based at Pearl Harbor. Japanese battleships were at sea during the attack, the carriers did all of the launching of planes.
There weren't any kamikaze pilots in the bombing of Pearl Harbor.
Pearl Harbor gave the US a port safe from almost any storm.
No they were unable, without weapons and amor how could they
well obviously there was because there was an agreement of no intervention with pearl harbor in which was broken with the attack
About 16 (all of them). So many that if we would have had our last 3 aircraft carriers in port at the time of the attack, we would have been nearly lost any for of resistance.
People against any forms of violence, generally kept a low profile after Pearl Harbor.
yes.
6 about i hope that answered your question The answer depends on your definition of "destroyed"; even then, the immediate impact and the long term results are entirely different. Often the devestation of Dec 7 is portrayed as a decimation of the US Navy as a whole. In fact, America maintained an Atlantic fleet which contained among others - 7 Battleships and more importantly five aircraft carriers. This is not to diminish the losses at Pearl Harbor, where two active battleships (AZ and OK) were completely destroyed beyond any further use as was the target ship (formerly Battleship) UT. Three destroyers (all in drydock) were destroyed for immediate use but two were ultimately repaired and returned to service as were the battleships NV, WV, CA (each was sunk, but later raised) TN , MD and PA which were damaged but definitely servicable. By 1943, all but two of the capital ships at Pearl on Dec 7 were back at sea.
This was one of the main events that pulled America into WWII. Without the Japanese bombing of Pearl Harbor, America may have maintained its neutrality. Some people thought that FDR had antagonized the attack by cutting off Japans oil supply. It was also a little questionable as to why the battleships were all in a line which made them easy to bomb.
There were hospitals on the base and there is also a hospital about 2 miles from pearl harbor called Tripler Army Medical Center.
Yes, there is a memorial located in Pearl City, it is a memorial for the bombing of pearl harbor.
